Scale of the landscape-old

Equally important as the retention of water in the landscape is the restoration of piped riverbeds. As a result of regulation, our rivers have been shortened by about 4,500 km in the last 200 years. We need restore streams, rivers and small ponds to increase water retention in the landscape.
