CZ is Haunted-old

This project revolves around re-utilization, repurposing, and re-using abandoned churches all around the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is a historic land that tells a lot of stories through its architecture and landmarks. One of these historical pieces is the influence of religion and the religious architecture that was built with it. Shifting from the old times towards the future, there has been a decline in the religious population of the Czech Republic leaving many holy and religious sites abandoned. Mainly churches are common sites within all regions of the Czech Republic. Specifically, most churches are located within the hearts of the town elevated over other buildings. This demonstrates the importance of the church and from a functional point of view provides an equal distance for everyone in town to access it. My project focuses on re-purposing these abandoned churches with an invasive approach that would preserve the sense of it while giving a new identity and new meaning to it. My main focus was to come up with programs and services that would be beneficial to the townspeople. These programs would provide networking, access to faster and better internet, public libraries, providing better public spaces, and other essential services that lack in that town and the overall region. My mission is to re-use abandoned churches and alter them doing so provididing a new meaning to them. Through these steps and methods my goal is to bring back life to the haunted and abandoned sites.
