Bio-Pergola-old

Description

According to the Eurostat datas of CZ, carbon emission rates and coal based production of the country seem to be considerably high. Hence, the project “Bio-Pergola” proposes modules that enables the assembly of sustainable panels to CZ roads. Pursuit of sustainable building materials is one of the main motivations of “Bio-Pergola”. Moreover, materials such as algae panels, mycelium panels and green walls are proposed in order to fulfill functions such as hold of carbon dioxide and oxygen production, biomass production and sound absorption. These eco-friendly modules also provide social spaces such as observation decks, exhibition spaces and biofood markets which are located in the intersection points of motorways and walking paths. The structure of the modules ensures walking paths on top of the motorway and fill the deficiency of side walks near roads. These possibilities are further investigated on the focused side.

Impact

Bio-Pergola is a proposal for CZ CO2 emission rates and how to solve the CO2 problem by using the motorway spaces and coverage of these spaces with algae. The project is also a start of discussion about the usage of greenery in uncommon practices. The main motivation of the project is to manifest the CO2 emission of countries and try to evoke interest about the architectural solutions regarding this ecological issue.
