Urban Beekeeping-old
Description
Starting from 2016 Czech Republic has been experiencing high amounts of bee colony losses throughout majority of honey producing regions. Pesticide usage in the countryside is one of the main factors for the population decrease. Urban beekeeping is one of the ways to ensure healthier bees, increase in their population, pollination and honey quality. Urban approach to honey making increases the amount of beekeepers since the process will no longer be necessary to take place at the countryside. As a result, the project ensures increase in bee population which also gives rise to diversification of the biospheres in the cities of Czech Republic
Impact
If Czech cities were to adopt urban beekeeping it would increase the amount of beekeepers and the bees, it would diversify the biospheres within the cities. Additionally, Placement of the project inside the courtyards of residential buildings can create opportunities for recreational activities. Overall the honey quality as well as its annual production would increase along with the bee population.
